Lord Nityananda's appearance day

"So today, the appearance day of Nityänanda Prabhu... Nityänanda Prabhu is Baladeva, Baladeva-tattva.So Balaräma... In the Vedic literature it is said, näyam ätmä bala-hinena labhyaù; na bahunä çrutena. So bala means strength. This bala, this strength, is different from the material strenght. This is spiritual strength. So today is Nityänanda Prabhu’s appearance day. We shall always pray Nityänanda Prabhu, “Kindly keep me under your shelter so that...I am very unhappy. Under the shelter of Your lotus feet I shall be happy.” And that is real happiness. "

part of lecture from  Srila A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

वराह Varaha Avatar appearance day

Varaha is the third avatar of  Vishnu, in the form of a boar. He appeared in order to defeat Hiranyaksa, a demon who had taken the Earth(Prithvi) and carried it to the bottom of what is described as the cosmic ocean in the story. The battle between Varaha and Hiranyaksa is believed to have lasted for a thousand years, which the former finally won. Varaha carried the Earth out of the ocean between his tusks and restored it to its place in the universe. He saved the earth.:)

Bhaimi Ekadasi-26.01.2010

   Jaya Ekadashi 26th January 2010
This Ekadasi is also observed as Bhoumi Ekadasi and Bhishma Ekadashi by other Hindu communities.
Jaya Ekadashi is observed in the Shukla Paksha of Magha Month in Orissa during the waxing phase of the moon. As the festival is associated with Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram and Bhishma, Lord Puri Jagannath is worshipped with utmost gaiety.
The half-day fast (vrata) for the appearance of Lord Varahadev is also observed on this Ekadasi day, and the utsav (festival celebration - pujas and feasting, etc.) is observed on the Dvadasi, which is when He appeared.

As in all ekadashi days of the year is recomended to chant the holly names of the Lord and to meditate upon purifying ourselfs, mostly internaly. The stories for each ekadashi are very intersting, but one should be careful to don't fell into the believe that making sinful activities can be purified with chanting the names of the Lord, this is also one of the 10 ofences against the holly name. So,dear devoties and friends, have a nice day ,make as much good things as you can, help others as much as you can, fast as much as you can, chant as much as you can and hari bol!

Today is Ekadasi. What Srila Prabhupada said about the Day of Ekadasi?

''' The Inner Meaning of Ekadasi
Submitted by Harmonist staff on June 3, 2009 – 8:54 pm13 Comments
By Swami B. V. Tripurari

I was walking with Srila Prabhupada once and one of my Godbrothers asked, “Prabhupada, is Ekadasi auspicious or inauspicious?” In other words, do we observe certain practices on Ekadasi because the stellar arrangement is inauspicious and we seek to counteract that influence, or is it simply auspicious to observe Ekadasi? And if it is auspicious, why do we do things like fasting and so forth? Prabhupada replied, “Ekadasi is most auspicious, and it is not about fasting; it’s about feasting.”

Sri Advaita Acharya

Advaita acarya appeared some sixty years before Lord Caitanya's own advent. He was the first among the associates of Lord Caitanya to appear within the material world to deliver the conditioned souls. It was Advaita acarya who asked Lord Caitanya to descend. Before Lord Caitanya's advent, Advaita acarya had already begun chanting Krishna's names in the streets with devotees and discussing scriptures on devotional service to Krishna. Advaita acarya's name indicates that He is avaita-i.e., nondifferent- from Lord Hari (Krishna), and He is called Acarya (one who teaches by example) because He taught bhakti in all directions, Advaitacarya lived in Santipura and Maypura, in what is now West Bengal, and was the head of the Vaisnava community of Nadia.

When Advaita Prabhu saw that the total human society was full of materialistic activities and devoid of devotional service, which alone could save mankind from the threefold miseries of material existence, He, out of His causeless compassion for the age-worn human society, prayed fervently for the incarnation of the Lord and continually worshiped the Lord with water of the Ganges and leaves of the holy tulasi tree.

Sri Advaita Acharya Ki Jay!
